[About | AutoWallpaper]

I. Overview

AutoWallpaper is cross-platform desktop wallpaper changing utility. It is currently being developed in Qt4 C/C++ and is cross-platform. AutoWallpaper allows a user to compile a list of images, by adding folders and/or individual image files, that will be used as desktop wallpaper images. AutoWallpaper can be configured to automatically change the desktop wallpaper at specified time intervals, when the system starts up or when the user manually chooses an image. AutoWallpaper is desgined to work on a wide variety of windowmangagers, icluding MS Windows. AutoWallpaper uses some interesting features to ensure that randomally chosen images are as random as possible. AutoWallpaper can be controlled with system-wide host keys (Linux only) to make configuration editing a snap.

II. History

AutoWallpaper was born in November of 2007 when I decided that I wanted a program to swith my ever-expanding collection of wallpapers on my Windows machine the same way that they could on my Macintoxh. I didn't like any of the existing similar applications so I decided to write my own. AutoWallpaper started out as a very lightweight and compact desktop wallpaper utility for Windows and eventually evolved into a useful mulit-platform wallpapermanager tool.
